Why God Doesn't Make Sense
What good would it do a student to sit in class and hear lessons but never understand it? It would do them no good and they wouldn't pass the class. They wasted time and money going to school.
Unfortunately this is what a lot of people do at church. They have the mindset that if they put some money in the tithe and attend once a week that they are pleasing God, but they won't pass the class.
If I went to get a job as a builder but failed school, I would build a house that would crumble because I wouldn't know what I'm doing. In the same way, when God has promises to free you from strong-holds and bondages in your life, you have to understand how to apply His promise.
It is easy to passively sit and hear someone speak. It is difficult to understand the words spoken and then apply them to what you do, because you have to actively understand and actively apply. Going after God is not a passive thing that just falls on you, His presence comes from seeking Him.
John 17:3 - This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
You are supposed to know Jesus Christ. God doesn't want you to fail (Ezekiel 18:23). When you gain understanding, and receive revealed knowledge of God, then you can apply it to your life.
He who has ears let him hear. Or, He who has ears let him understand what the Spirit says.
What good is it if you hear things but never understand them?
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6)
When you don't have knowledge you don't have grace,
Without grace you don't have favor,
Without favor you don't have power,
Without power you don't have what you need for a life of Godliness.
